TimeControl adds Microsoft Planner Integration

Microsoft Planner, TimeControl, Planner timesheet, Chris Vandersluis, Christopher Vandersluis, Christopher Peter VandersluisTimeControl has extended its long history with Microsoft with the addition of Microsoft Planner Integration. The TimeControl system has integrated with every version of Microsoft Project since 1995.

With the impending end of service of Microsoft Project Online, some clients are migrating at Microsoft’s recommendation to Microsoft Planner.  HMS has just announced a new integration included in the TimeControl timesheet system to Microsoft Planner.  This carries on a long tradition at HMS of integrating with Microsoft Project Management products.

In 1995, HMS launched version 2 of TimeControl which included a brand new integration of Microsoft Project. Over the years, we have worked closely with Microsoft to keep up with its changing products in the project management industry.

Most recently we have included a full bi-directional link to Microsoft Planner in the current version of TimeControl. This link can bring from Planner into TimeControl the projects, tasks, user defined fields to display in the TimeControl timesheet. Then, once hours are entered, progress can optionally be sent back to Microsoft Planner as percent complete. TimeControl then becomes a complete multi-purpose auditable record of the hours spent on each task in Planner.

This has become all the more important as Microsoft prepares to decommission its Microsoft Project Online service in September 2026.

TimeControl continues to include the link to Microsoft Project Desktop which has been enhanced over the years to take advantage of different capabilities in Project. We also still support our links to Microsoft Project Server. Our existing link to Project Online will be deprecated only when there is no longer a Project Online to connect to.

The Planner link can work bidirectionally automatically on a schedule or on demand at any time. It is included with TimeControl on-premise, TimeControl Industrial on-premise, TimeControl Online, TimeControl Industrial Online and TimeControl Project.

HMS maintains links to numerous project management systems including Primavera, Open Plan, InEight, Birdview PSA and Brightwork along with links to SharePoint and Excel.  See more about linking to other products in the Solutions area of the website.
