Timesheet Cell-by-cell details with Timesheet Details Fields

Just explaining how a feature works in our User or Reference Guide doesn’t always give a complete picture of what is possible when implementing that feature.  In many cases, we don’t even know how some TimeControl capabilities are being used unless we’re asked about it by a client.

Here in the blog, we can take more time to give examples and let you use your own imagination of how to take that feature forward.

Today we’re looking at Timesheet Detail Fields.  These are user-defined fields that exist at the timesheet cell-level.

YTimesheet Details Fields Definitionou define these fields in System Preferences in the Timesheet Tab.

Scroll down to Timesheet Details Fields to add the fields you want to track.

Timesheet Line EllipsisOnce defined, the timesheet user accesses these fields by clicking the “…” ellipsis on the timesheet line.  This is the same way to access Expenses and other details.

Timesheet Details Fields EntrySelecting Timesheet Detail Fields brings us to the entry for that line.  Remember, this is a cell-by-cell entry so if you have details that have to be entered separately for each line, then you’ll need to access this screen for each line that needs these details.

In this case we’ve made a pretty generic entry for location worked and mileage spent.  That is separate to how you might track mileage in the TimeControl Expense entry.

Once you’ve made your entries, click Apply above the grid to save then Ok, to return to the timesheet.
